Debt Protection Policy?

I have been the hell and back in my personal life over the course of the last 10 months. Hit and run car accident, house fire, gased and ******, ******* at home building and my credit card and cheque account **********ly hacked into. Subsequent to that the company I worked for decided that I was no longer wanted at the company. I did not fight this as I have very limited fight left in me. I have phoned FNB, been into the bank and spoken to all relevant departments and NO ONE has been able to assist with the debt protection policy. I find this typical having been exposed to various insurance companies over the last couple of months but extremely disappointing. At a time in my life where I need the assistance. FNB have turned their back who has been a client for 29 years.... The recorded initiating phone call specifically makes mention to looses jobs and personal crisis and I am not sure how much more an individual needs to go through in order for a debt protection policy to kick in.
