Debit orders without my permision

To whom it may concern

I am very upset and quite frankly worried, this morning I received an sms stating that money has been deducted from my account by debit order. I know nothing of this debit order in my name and taken from my account and this is shocking, how can someone else have access to my banking and set up an account with debit order? The debit have been cancelled for a fee of R17, I then had to contact the company to stop the debit order on their side. It took me 20 minutes to get through and when I finaly got through I got told this is a company that does debit orders on behalf of other companies......I was given a name and contact number but needless to say this was not of any help either. How can I ensure that NO MORE DEBIT ORDERS will be put through on my banking? Surely there should be safety measures taken when arranging a debit order?
Hope to be hearing from you soon.
Paula
***
