DEBIT ORDER SWITCHING
FNB is seemingly the more innovative and convenient bank so I decide to switch to FNB from Standard Bank. My primary aim was to open an Islamic cheque account and just use this as a savings account and maintain my standard bank account for salary and debit orders. Subsequent to opening the FNb account I am then called by someone (FNB) who makes switching to FNB so easy since they do all the debit order switching etc for you. I then decide to proceed and take all my docs to Adderley Street branch where I receive excellent service. Bearing in mind this is done late in July I am informed that changes will only be effective in August. To my surprise, all debit orders I wanted switched did not take place and came off my old account. Despite receiving several calls for the same thing from the switching department they still did not switch my debit orders. I have now incurred approximately R400 bank charges because of unpaid debits and because of their incompetence. Will FNB refund me this money?<br> So I call the switching department and they tell me it will take another 4 to 6 weeks ,I just did it myself today and finished in 2 hours. What a bad decision..
