Debit Order Collections Facility

An application for a debit order collections facility is, according to my understanding, being indefinitely delayed due to a lack of service delivery from another bank.

Our company app**** for a facility called Collections Facility. This is a facility offered by FNB (and other banks) so that we can run debit orders for our members. Back in 2009 we had a facility like this but we changed banks. When we changed banks again, back to FNB, I app**** for this facility again.

The response that I have received from dealing directly with the branch manager Edwin Sharma in Westville is that the bank we were previously with need to send FNB a document called a "Dispute Statement". Upon contacting THE OTHER BANK on numerous occasions, they have no idea what this document is and can't produce one.

I highlight the irony that due to this lack in service from THE OTHER BANK that our account was moved back to FNB - who's well know slogan is "how can we help you" - and yet we find ourselves held captive at the hands of THE OTHER BANK.

Just because THE OTHER BANK are unable to produce a document detailing any bounced debit orders now we as a client of FNB are denied access to the requested facility.

I think that as a client this is unacceptable! What do FNB do for clients that have never had a debit order facility? Just deny the application? FNB would not even have known that we have a facility with THE OTHER BANK if I have not told them about it and yet our request is delayed for months now.

If this facility was denied on a sound bases within the framework of our capabilities then that would be one thing, but to deny this request simply because THE OTHER BANK does not have the required facility is unjust towards us as THE CLIENT!
