Debicheck Mandate Process Fail

I have been a customer of FNB for many years and have usually had good service but I have an issue with the way that they have chosen to implement the Debicheck mandate process.

The new Debicheck process was put in place to prevent unauthorized debit orders on client accounts and each Debicheck mandate is supposed to be authorized electronically by a client before being placed on their account.

I am currently struggling with a service provider to have a mandate removed off my account (for 3 weeks....) after a contract was cancelled as no one seems to understand the new process. This was after the mandate was originally put on my account WITHOUT any authorization from me.

Yesterday I then noticed that another Debicheck mandate has been put on my account, this time by FNB themselves (credit card autopayment I believe....) without any electronic authorization again!

I asked my wife to check her account and she has 2 on her account as well from different service providers! She has also never authorized any of the details in the mandates electronically!

Why would FNB implement a new process to prevent unauthorized debit orders and then not follow the process around the authorization step? There is no point in the new process if a client doesn't even see, acknowledge and authorize the electronic mandate details.

This new process seems to have been put in place across the banks and service providers with no training or thought as the service provider in my case doesn't know how to remove the mandate and FNB seems to just place them on client accounts without authorization.....

Really does make you wonder about the safety and security of your hard earned money....
