**************** on interest rates

In March 2015 I registered a bond with FNB for R1600 000 but utilized 1028 000 with the idea of going back to withdraw additional funds after I had completed my renovations. 30 days after the initial registration which was at a rate of 9.9% I app**** for some extra funds. FNB pushed my interest rate from 9.9% to 12.25%. The difference in rate equates to R2000 a month. Clearly it is not an affordability issue as they feel I can afford the additional R2000 in interest, I also know it is not a value issue in the property as we are bonded 67% loan to value so there is more than sufficient equity, I also know that as far as income to loan ratio we are well within the parameters as we qualify financially for roughly 50% more than what we loaned. I was at the time told that 6 months later I can apply for a reduction which i just did and was told their rules changed to 2 years after initial registration which I subsequently discovered in untrue, yesterday I was told that after reducing the capital amount by 15% they will consider a rate change. Double standards in my books and blatant take it or leave it attitude, how short sighted. Time to jump ship.
