Credit Card, what do you need?

Hi, I've been trying since last week to apply for a credit card. Apparently I qualify for a platinum card, but I want a gold card so I can link it to my gold cheque card, and because you don't give me that option online, I had to phone FNB to get it sorted. But again the consultant told me I can't get gold because her system says I qualify for platinum only! Thankfully sanity prevailed when she called me back 2 minutes later and said her supervisor said I could get a gold card. We went through all the steps of applying (however, she couldn't even tell me what interest I could earn, which is a worry), and said I would receive an e-mail so I can forward my proof of res and payslips to complete the app process. I'm still waiting for the e-mail, so again I phoned FNB at my expense a few hours ago to ask for the e-mail so I can send on my details. Still nothing. Pls help, I'm leaving for Thailand within a month and I need the credit card. I also want to buy Forex via FNB online, but this process so far has been such a mess I'm not sure what to do.
