Credit Card Not Cancelled As Per Request

I have moved over to Europe for a year and before I left I went into the Northmead branch to change my account and cancel my Credit Card. Since I have been in Europe I keep getting messages that I need to make an urgent payment for my credit card as it is still active. Before I left I made a payment at the bank and signed all the documents to cancel the card. Why is this still happening?
