Credit Card Increases

As a foreigner working in SA, my only way of getting a little help when times get tough is a credit card increase which I have always pay on a monthly basis. The last time i increased my limit was a while ago and this was only possible after run arounds with the branches. I am wanting to only increase my limit by 10000 now and after calling in I am told that its been declined due to afforbaility issues, how can that be when my salary has increased since my last increase and my expenses are still the same? How can my affordability be an issue when only 2 weeks ago, Wesbank was able to approve my car finance? why the double standards when it comes to credit card increases? am not looking for a 100000 just 10000 and am happy for the limit to be decreased back in 6 months. Can anyone help?
