Credit card embarrassment

I recently opened a credit card with FNB. I specifically asked even though my credit limit is X, if I should deposit money (Y) into the credit card, my limit would be X + Y. The lady I spoke with said yes. So after activating my card and following all instructions given my FNB, I went to book and pay for my air tickets with Emirates airlines.

I was horribly embarrassed when the card was declined 3 times in a row, after i insisted that there was money in the account. They called for authorisation, and again it was declined. This was an extremely embarrassing situation for me as I had everyone in the room listening to me calling FNB and asking for assistance. I had to explain myself over and over again and nobody at FNB could actually help me.

Eventually the Merchant - Standard Bank - assisted and phoned FNB directly and only then did FNB contact me and process the authorisation.

I have since seen that they have also charged me for a #Declined Auth Fee of R 8.50.

The situation and the fee involved should have been handled far more professionally. I am now petrified to use my card, as i feel I will be left feeling ashamed again. Poor client services FNB - you should be the one to feel embarrassed!
