Credit Card doubled up due to FNB error
I get paid last day of every month and this reflects on all my agreements with FNB. My Aspire credit card minimum monthly repayment, personal loan and funeral policy is debited according to the date agreed upon. I received a message on the "Just for you" section stating that FNB experienced an issue when processing credit cards statements resulting in delayed processing of the February 2025 statements. Furthermore it went on to say my repayment may be higher than usual to cover this month, but however, I would not be charged additional interest due to this error. It further states, next statement would be issued in April 2025 and where payment has been made, it would contribute to the repayment. Upon receiving an sms dated 01/03/2025 stating my repayment is now due I transferred payment on 28/02/2025 to credit card to avoid any discrepancies as the amount had not been debited from my cheques account (loan and funeral policy) had been debited but not the repayment for credit card. The following day I noted that the repayment amount was debited from my cheque account but then reversed a few hours later. Today 03/03/2025 my account was again debited for that amount leaving me a shortfall for other debit orders going off tonight (03/03/2025). As for the interest that too was higher than usual, increasing by R300. Why must we as the client be held accountable for FNB's errors and so-called glitches? This is nothing more than daylight *******!! When contacting the call centre and credit card division I am given different versions as to why, I spoke to a lady named Alana and she confirmed the original repayment was still in standing. The following day I phoned again to inquire about the sms and "just for you" messages I had received only to be told I needn't worry as it didn't pertain to me. On the third phonecall to the credit card division I was then told the higher repayment was because I was in default/missed payment. My question to you is how can I be in default/missed payment when I have an automated debit order in place and has been for years? As a loyal client for 15 years this is nothing but outrageous and disgusting service from FNB. The call centre consultants are useless as well as the consultants within the bank themselves as they are quick to refer you to the telephone for get assistance regarding the inquiries. Honestly, why bother having them at all when all they do is shunt you from pillar to post. I am a pensioner with a civil pension and cannot afford to be held responsible for FNB glitches.
