credit card application

I was issues a credit card with a R1 available balance, after many calls it was determined that the card should never have been issued. I had paid the service fees for 5 months. In November 2018 the account was closed and I was told that the fees would be refunded and I would be contacted about applying for a new credit card. Nobody called. I eventually app**** myself. Still no consultant called.

In the interim, on 20 December 2018 2 months of the fees were refunded, the remaining 3 months are still outstanding. I followed up with Mr A Fredericks at new applications who had been very helpful (he is the only reason this review gets any stars) on 9 January with regards to the outstanding balance and pending application. He once again escalated the refund and then passed me onto Lesego who assisted me in my new credit card application, also doing a stellar job. My new account was approved and added to my banking profile. I was contacted on 11 January 2018 at around 9am to confirm the delivery of my new card for Monday 14 January 2019. The delivery arrived today, perfectly on time. I log into my internet banking profile to activate my card only to discover the account is gone. I check my email and see a letter from fnbcard on 11 January 2018 at 11am confirming that my credit card account had been closed as requested, this was in response to an email I had sent on 5 December 2018 asking when the aforementioned refund would be processed. Now that I have my NEW credit card I check the number and it's the same card number, someone has closed my NEW account. I am utterly dumbfounded. I can only assume that whoever processed this did not bother to READ what the email said (including that the account has already been closed), did not apply even the most basic common sense, how could I be asking about closing an account more than a month before the account has actually been opened.

I'm trying very hard to be polite about this review, but it is a supreme challenge after having dealt with in excess of 15 different people. I finally thought at least part of the issue was resolved, now my calling and irritations continue.
