Contradicting information about debit orders

I made a phone call to FNB to get a debit order stopped last week. The lady confirm with me that the debit order was stopped and there would be a possibility that the debit order would go through as I am stopping it so close to the due date. If it were to go off, I can contact the bank and have the money reversed (noting that I got an email confirmation that the debit order would be stopped and a fee would be charged to have this done). Today I phone the bank (1st time the lady hung up on me and the 2nd time the gentleman had an attitude) only to find out that the debit order cannot be reversed and the debit order was never stopped. I have waited for 6 going onto 7 months with the service provider to get the service cancelled and still nothing. How do we get this *****ing of money to stop? Should I be switching my bank to make sure that the stupid debit order will not go off again Now, what now? How can you have 2 people giving me contradicting information??
