Complaints unresolved and FNB tax certificates uncoordinated as departments disagree with each other
Every year I go through the same time-wasting trauma with FNB: I do not have a current account, only investments and a credit card, therefore branches cannot or refuse to put me on the FNB app. However, head office keeps telling me tax certificates must be obtained by FNB app therefore the email service I have enjoyed for 20 years, is terminated. I tried again calling customer service in March 2023 and the consultant refused to believe me that I tried at the branch EVERY YEAR, and that I was repeatedly promised an emailed certificate like Nedbank, ABSA and all competent FSP's do. He then put me on hold for nothing. Now I refuse your phone-calls because it is useless, put it all in writing. I again insist on CONTINUED email services including annual statements and tax certificates. I am not going to visit the branch every year like I did for the past three years to beg for my email. The termination of email services was one-sided, I never agreed to it. Emails are safer than apps, security features are available! DO NOT CALL ME AGAIN, email me, FNB has my email address which is: janmconradie at Gmail dot com. Do NOT reply asking for my account number, I ALREADY gave it here on this HelloPeter form below, you are just obstructing and wasting time by asking again. I am completely fed-up with this annual struggle and with one Department not believing what the other Department told me: Yes, I was refused access to the FNB app without a current account! Finally, if something now goes wrong with my accounts in revenge for this complaint, I will immediately take legal action. Yes, that is a risk consumers nowadays face, it is incredible but true: Do NOT touch and mess up my accounts now like municipalities do to complainants.
Why must South Africans always complain before getting service? Given that every process is brokennowadays, the difference is whether the bank at least solves the complaint.
Therefore I would rather invest with FNB. When things go wrong, they react. Other banks like Standard Bank just do not care.
