COMPLAINT - NOT CLOSING AN ACCOUNT TIMEOUSLY

On 8 April, I, as Executor of my husband's deceased estate, submitted the relevant documents to the bank and requested that his account be closed. It had already been frozen 6 weeks prior with no interest paid on the funds in the account but bank fees deducted for what I ask. By 15 April the account had still not been closed and funds transferred into the account into which I had instructed the funds be placed. I personally visited the bank and was asked to speak to the estate division - they took 15 minutes to answer the phone - and they informed me that the account would only be closed on 29 April. This is shocking - 3 weeks to close and account - in this electronic age. The bank were not the executors of the estate - I am - and therefore my instruction should have been carried out forthwith without going through the estate division. No interest is being earned on this money while it waits which in itself is shocking but bank fees continue to be deducted.
