COMPLAINT - FNB REVOLVING CREDIT

I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding the handling of my former revolving credit facility with FNB. I initially held a revolving credit account with FNB in 2017. In 2018, my then-husband and I entered into debt review, and FNB was duly notified of this process. All accounts, including the aforementioned credit facility, were paid through the appointed debt review company. In 2020, I filed for divorce, which was finalised in 2024. As part of the divorce settlement, all outstanding debt review accounts were settled by the respective attorneys. However, in August 2024, I began receiving calls from attorneys acting on behalf of FNB, claiming that I owe money on the same revolving credit account. Despite my attempts to engage with FNB to resolve the matter, I have received no formal response or clarity regarding the account. The attorneys involved have also refused to provide any substantive information when contacted. On 10 February 2025, I visited the FNB Florida Road branch and raised this issue in person with both the branch manager and a consultant. Unfortunately, I have yet to receive any feedback or resolution from FNB, while the attorneys continue to contact me repeatedly. According to available information, payments were made to the account up until 31 March 2023. Thereafter, only interest has accrued, with the current amount totalling R14,408.25. I received no notifications or communication from FNB when payments ceased, nor was I informed that the account remained active and continued to accumulate interest. I find this to be an unfair and negligent practice on the part of the bank. FNB failed to close the account, failed to communicate the status of the account, and continues to allow interest to accrue without any engagement with me, the account holder. I am therefore requesting the following: A full and detailed statement of the revolving credit account from inception to date; Confirmation of all payments received through the debt review process and thereafter; An explanation as to why the account was not closed following the final payment in March 2023; and Immediate cessation of all legal and collections-related communication until this matter is fully resolved. Please be advised that should this matter not be resolved satisfactorily, I reserve the right to escalate the issue.
