Complaint FNB Home Loan Division
If you are 65 years old, do not bother to apply for an advance on your almost paid up bond with FNB. The application process is not upfront, you complete all the documentation, and find out after weeks, that the application has been turned down, (according to the bank, due to affordability) The bank does not even have the decency to initiate the contact to advise of the decision. What a total misrepresentation of the facts! Why cant FNB be upfront, on receipt of an application and advise that it is turned down due to AGE. We have never defaulted on any payment, and currently owe R21,000 on our bond. Wasting our time was one thing, but the bank had people working on this application, coming to value the property, what a dreadful waste of their resources as well. What blinkers this institution has, why this rulebook for older people, our joint incomes, from an annuity and a salary was well within affordability criteria. So to those of you who are 40 years old, think of going with a bond that is not going to cut you off without options when you reach 60.... plan for this now, and DO NOT apply for an FNB Bond
