15 Apr 2019, 09:10Good day Tshepo Mosolotsane.
I thank you for the below.
And the reason why I thank you, is that the below response from FNB has now quantified my decision to leave FNB for good.
You see Tshepo, I am still working very hard to get back to a level playing field financially after being unemployed for 2/3rd's of 2018. I could have taken many other decisions to negotiate lesser amounts of payments legally which would have left FNB having to make less back on interest and on the outstanding capital amount - money makes money after all right?
I could also have gone to another bank and paid what I felt I could pay leaving FNB with no option but to accept that.
I could also have not paid all together at all.
No, I decided to stay with FNB. I decided to break my back to try and do my best with what I have being a single father and sole bread winner.
I decided to do the right thing.
Unfortunately what I did not count on, is needing to effect major repairs on my vehicle - see attached, image A.
You will note the critical points of mechanical repairs as per my spread sheet, you will note that these tie in with amounts charged to my FNB cheque account - go look. Please. I have a point to make with this.........you see, what you dont know is that in March I emailed FNB and this very same department notifying you of issues and asked that someone contact me back. You never did.
So I had a choice to make.
I could either ask FNB for assistance and understanding in a tough time so that I could continue to feed my family, get to work so I may continue working and make some payments at least whilst I ensure that my vehicle is roadworthy, safe for my family to travel in and also reliable so I may continue working.
Or, I could continue to pay FNB, not have a job and not have a means of transport.
Which is the lesser of two evils? I still have more repairs required by the way, so I still have some way to go but I am doing what I can bit by bit.
I would now like to point your attention to image B. on the attachment. You will note that according to that information which is taken from your website and is a screenshot of the account in question. It states that my monthly payment expected is actually only R426.12?
Now I am sure we dont need to go and discuss basic mathematics and which is the lesser vs. greater amount hey?
It also states on this screenshot which is taken from your website and from the account in question that I am not in arrears any longer?
So FNB........."how can we help you?"...........what a slogan, what a joke.
All I asked was just for assistance and understanding given unforeseen circumstances so that I could continue to feed my young son, fix my car so that I could continue to work and have a reliable and safe means of transport whilst still making a lesser contribution for a SHORT period of time. Instead FNB as a banking institution decided I should not try and at least have a reliable car to get to work and back that is safe for my son to be in, not be able to feed him either and not care at all.
So FNB, thank you. Thank you for showing me that I should rather take the road you wouldnt want me to.
Today at lunchtime I will be going to Capitec to activate my cheque account, I will be changing my banking details with the finance department at my employer and I will no longer be directly banking with FNB.
Have a fantastic day further.
This will also be going onto Hellopeter and I will be notifying a very well known Journalist contact as well.
Regards.
B H.
