Closure of Credit Card Account
I am very irritated with FNB at the moment. Fuming actually to the extent where I am at a point of changing my bank with immediate effect.
I had a credit card with FNB, apart from my Cheque Account for a couple of years. I am at a point where I want to clear all my debt, hence I've taken the decision to pay my outstanding balance in full and close the account. I then contacted the customer "care", and queried the procedure to close. A form was sent to me and I was requested to complete and send back as soon as possible. Which I did, the same day. A couple of days later, I received an sms informing of a debit that will go off on my account on the next due date.
I called querying this, and was told that the is the interest occurred for the previous month, and it takes 7 to 14 days for the account to be closed. I accepted the procedure, and agreed to have the monies debited. I call today to follow up on this , and am told if I dont pay the outstanding settlement amount they cannot close the account. So the account will remain open until I pay the generated interest. In other words , the " closing fee".. Which basically is telling me that, if I wait till month end to pay it, an additional fee will be added?
So we as people are not allowed to move forward, and clear our debt? We need to pay to have it closed not too?
Really considering moving from FNB. Not a happy banker at all.
