Closing of account

I opened an account with FNB on 21 August 2013. When I asked the consultant that I am only interested in a savings account and not a checque account, she said that I do qualify for a gold cheque because my income is over the limit for a savings account. I accepted the offer and banked there for +- 1 year. As I payed in money every day and withdraw, I actually lost more money doing banking that way. I stopped the account in the bank because the charges was far more than R100.00 per month. After about 6 months the bank said to me that I owe them for bank charges EVEN I DIDN'T USE MY ACCOUNT! I kept getting the savings pocket (account ) statement and it reflect that I still have money in my account. When I wanted to pay my salary in the savings account (WHICH HAVE A ACCOUNT NUMBER) they said that the account does not exist! How does that work??? I close my account, they kept it open (do they want to make money that way)? I kept getting a statement for the savings pocket (account) they say it does not exist without the cheque account????? How can THEY help me now?<br>
