Closed Cheque Account Converted To Loan
Can someone at FNB please help me - I have made several calls, and sent several emails, but not getting assistance from relevant people.
In summary, I use to have a cheque account with FNB which I canceled back in October 2019 after FNB failed to resolve a ***** case I had reported on my account. It was within my right to take this decision, more so because I felt FNB was not able to protect my money. I communicated this decision via email to my private banker at the time. She did not respond and I was not contacted by anyone at FNB to convince me to keep the account active or to advise me of a different process to follow to have my account closed. Like any reasonable person, I took the silence as confirmation that they will cancel the account.
When I logged onto my online profile last week, I was shocked to discover that I owe FNB over R8500. Upon further investigation, I learned that these are actually bank charges for the cheque account I closed in 2019, which FNB later converted into a loan account. To make matters worse, this account was handed over to a debt collecting agency that has made a negative listing on my ITC profile - which as you will know, affects my credit score and affordability.
I have been specific on this issue in my recent communication with FNB (several calls and emails) - and even offered to forward the email instructing my then private banker to close the cheque account. It seems FNB does not appreciate the urgency to have this matter resolved ASAP, considering the negative ITC listings I have incurred.
Can someone at FNB please have this resolved ASAP - and ITC information updated accordingly?
Hope to hear from you soon!
