Close of Account & Bank charges

Fnb refused to close my account saying if its inactive they will close, now it accumulate bank charges and they sent me a letter of demand.The also put excess bank charges for what, nobody there can explain. I don't understand whats so difficult about closing an account. Their service have become bad of late.
