Client prevented from accessing his own funds

Due to the national lockdown imposed as a result of the Covid pandemic, I was unable to generate any revenue in my business, invariably resulting in no cash inflows into my business account for servicing either of the the finance cost on the loan facility, normal bank fees nor the deduction for repayments on my FNB credit card.

Although I have not presented my credit card nor debit card for purchases against any of the credit card or the bank facility since the start of the national lock down, the credit card payment deductions, finance cost and bank fees caused the facility to got max-out in November 2020.

According to FNB, my business didn't qualify for any financial relief or assistance for hardship caused by the imposition of the national lockdown regulations. Since the terms of my facility agreement have been "violated" (according to FNB), the account was handed over to FNB's lawyers for collection in December 2020.

On 8 February 2021 the total loan facility was repaid in full and additional payments were made to the account for covering subsequent bank fees and the expected credit card repayment that was to become due. When attempting to do the payment to the credit card on 8 March 2019, however, I was surprised to noticed that the bank has failed to remove the "hold" they have placed on the specific account.

As of today, I am still unable to utilize the prevailing credit on this account. FNB is *******ly preventing me from utilizing my own financial resources, ludicrously claiming that I first have to submit a "cash-flow projection" on this account, before they will consider lifting the "hold" thereon.

Though the account has been carrying a credit balance throughout the subsequent month, FNB charged an undue and unexplained amount of "financing cost" to this account in that subsequent month ... (?!!)

What's even more concerning, is the fact that a constant flow of MSM's is still being forwarded to me by the bank's lawyers, requesting payment arrangements to be made on the account which doesn't have any outstanding balances due on it ... (???)

It scares me to think that this is the quality of competence we should be expecting from one of our "leading" major banks.
