Clear ************** against the Disabled

I cannot even begin to express my disappointment and disgust towards the treatment we got at the FNB branch on Saturday. We went in to open a business account and we were told that we need a letter from the court to appoint someone to sign on our behalf because blind people cannot transact on their own. Such *******! Basically we cannot be trusted to make our own decisions and we are a risk to the bank. What ever happened to fairness and equality across all the people of South Africa. People living with a disability are still people and are no less intelligent or able to think on their own. We hold a business account with Standard bank but have never experienced such. FNB needs to catch up with the times, we cannot be punished and treated like this because we are not fully abled. Being disabled still makes me a human being at the end of the day and I should still be afforded the same rights and service as other humans. Living with a disability has many limitations in itself, FNB should recognise that and not add to our limitations unjustly.
