Cheque ***** department

I reported a case of cheque ***** to FNB on the 26 of April 2016 relating to an online purchase i was making as more funds were withdrawn instead of the intended price agreed price advertised. I indicated to FNB the funds that i was querying were still on my pending amounts to be released thus were not yet released. I submitted all documents required and received my reference number and my card was cancelled.

On the 29th April i received a notification from FNB saying the funds in question were now released and available on my account and should check the available balance. However, on the 30th the funds were released and paid to the third party i was querying. I immediately foned the back and the consultant confirmed that these funds were released.

On the morning of 2nd May i visited the fourways branch to follow up on this query. The consultant foned the cheque ***** department and the response was that the case was still being investigated.

Today, 25 May 2016 i followed up with the cheque ***** department and i was informed that the funds were not going to be refunded as i had confirmed the payment by putting in the OTP. I do not understand this decision as i had explained that the OTP was put in, under the assumption of the price advertised and not the actual withdrawn.

I had also informed FNB that i could not trace the company whose reference was on my account on google and have not even received the product i was trying to buy. The consultant said i should try and send them an email to get my money back and gave me the email adress which i should complain on. They (FNB) was not going to refund me.

i feel that FNB mislead me by sending a notification on the 29 April saying the funds reserved were released into my account, but were released the following day. Perhaps they should have frozen the account as well whilst under investigation and not released funds which were being queried.
