Cheque deposits - show me the money!

Wonder if anyone else has had the following experience? 1] One of my clients went to FNB and deposited an FNB Cheque [made out to my Business] into my Business Account 2] When by the 6th of May it had still not cleared, I started making enquiries 3] Got 4 different answers on 4 different occasions [a] it will clear on the 6th of May - when I called on the 23rd of April for Special Clearance [b] it cleared on the 1st or 2nd of May - when I called on the 6th of May [c] it cleared the same day- when I called on the 7th of May [d] it cleared on the 30th of April - at a branch visit on the 9th of May with the Biz Relationship Mngr

The branch visit yielded the following: 1] It shows on their system how the money was allocated to/made available in my account on the 30th of April 2] I disputed this as my actual balance never increased by the value of the cheque (backed up by inContact messages I received). And no - it has nothing to do with the pendings

I just find it odd. I've never ever had this happen with cash or eft transactions. Their system shows it allocated the money to me but I've note received it.

It has been escalated to their tech dept to review. Will give them a few more days [it's already been 2 working days - without any acknowledgement or feedback].

I sent a request to their tech dept [via their website] for a record of all inContact mails sent to me. I got a system generated mail saying they received my query along with a ref number. I'm still waiting.

I called the Biz Accnt help desk [7 May]and asked for certain calls to be pulled and listened to as well as be sent to me. I'm still waiting.

I've never had a problem with FNB in the past but this is worrying me. Have asked them to provide me with audited proof showing that the money was paid to me and that I spent it.

In the abscence of that proof I will be approaching their *****/Risk dept. Failing that it's Lawyer time [which will cost me 4 times the value of the cheque].

Anyone else ever have this experience?
