Cheque Account

I have a temporary loan with FNB that I took out last year between May and June, in July I app**** for debt review and my application was approved. My debt counselor advised me to close my FNB cheque account and open a savings account. I tried closing the cheque account but I was told I wont be able to because it has a minus amount that I need to pay first before I can close it. I deposited that amount and went to the Morningside branch to close it. I was then told I need to go to my main branch as they cant close it because I have a temporary loan. Bear in mind the loan is still paid by my debt counselor every month as per the agreement with FNB and my concern is I am being charged for the cheque account monthly fee (R100) yet I am no longer using the account and I cannot close it either. I went to my main branch (Meyerton) and was told I cannot close it. All I need is for me not to be charged that R100 monthly fee as I cannot afford it hence I am under debt review, can the account be down graded to a savings account because I understand it cannot be closed due to the loan I have and I am not refusing to pay. Your speedy response will be highly appreciated
