Charging after cancellation

On the 31st of October 2017 I sent a letter of cancellation to Katlego Malema ********** , In order to cancel our businesses card machine.

As previously discussed with her telephonically she required the following information on a signed letter : Merchant number , Reason for cancellation, Collection address.

The above were emailed to her on the 31st of October as they require 30 days notice for cancellation.

She then forwarded my email to ********** and said the following :

Good Day Ms Kindly find the attached letter of cancellation for the merchant in the subject line. "The merchant facility needs to cancelled and closed by the 30 November and all fees removed. The client has stipulated an address on the ancellation letter where the device must be collected.

Regards"

They responded with a reference number : INC ********** 14777

We were charged for the machine at the end of November as expected but received no correspondence regarding the collection of the card machine. We were charged again in December and the machine is still lying in its box yet to be collected.

When contacted regarding the matter we were told that they could not get hold of us on the phone so the courier could not collect. Hence they kept charging us. ( At no point did anyone email me back etc) I'm sorry but in this day and age there is more than one way to contact someone.

I then logged the query to ********** and received a pathetic response :

"Good day Please note that as per your request you advised that you want to cancel by the end of November ,you have to give a 30 days’ notice period when cancelling Kind Regards

This is not acceptable. Closing a business is hard enough , now we have to deal with FNB's incompetence. A business account that was no longer used is now in the red due to you charging us in excess of R1000.00 for no usage after we cancelled using the exact procedure your sales consultant told us to????

I have honestly never been so disgusted in my life.

My advice would be for anyone thinking of banking with FNB??? RUN AWAY, GO TO ANY AND I MEAN ANY OTHER BANK. THEY DO NOT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS - OR ONCE YOU CANCEL SOMETHING THEY TRY AND PUNISH YOU????? PATHETIC!
