Changing of Surname

Up until this point, I have really been happy with FNB...

I was advised that I would need an original marriage certificate from home affairs to update my surname...

Now number 1, if I didn't have an ID with my new surname listed on it, I would understand this requirement.

Furthermore, my husband and myself are married with an ANC, therefore my account would remain exactly that. MINE.

Why is it that an identity document/card is not enough to verify my name change?

Not to mention the cheeky agent I spoke to on the phone... Who clearly hasn't been to home affairs in a while, for him to tell me to just get it done because it's not a difficult or lengthy process.
