Challenges with Hospital Plan Claim
I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the challenges my father has faced in trying to claim from his hospital plan with FNB. My father, a pensioner, was admitted to Bertha Gxowa Hospital, a public hospital in Germiston, on December 9, 2024, where he stayed for a week. As you can imagine, his experience there was far from ideal, and he has since been in a fragile state.
After his discharge, he visited several FNB branches, including the New Market branch, to submit his hospital plan claim. Unfortunately, he was given conflicting instructions and faced significant obstacles. He was informed that he needed forms completed by his doctor. However, his doctor has since moved to another town and is no longer accessible. The only documentation he has is his discharge letter, yet the bank has refused to assist him based on this.
He was then advised to return to the hospital to get the required forms completed. This is unreasonable and impractical, as my father had to endure an entire night waiting just to be admitted to the hospital initially. Expecting him to go back and navigate such conditions in his current health is both unfair and unfeasible.
The process of claiming from his hospital plan has become unnecessarily burdensome, costly, and stressful for my father, who is not in a condition to handle such demands. This experience has left us both frustrated and disappointed with the lack of support and understanding from the bank.
I kindly request that you urgently review his case and provide a more practical solution to facilitate his claim. Surely, there must be alternative ways to validate his hospitalization without imposing such a heavy burden on him.
Your prompt attention to this matter would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if any additional information is required.
