Chain of BAD customer experiences at FNB
I had a chain of BAD experiences with FNB. 1) I tried to use my FNB App and it was outdated. I tried to update only to discover that I can't because app of this msg: "This won't work with this device." As a result I couldn't use FNB app anymore. 2) On 25/6/24 I went to the nearest atm to make some payments because I couldn't afford to buy a new phone for now. Unfortunately, I ended up making a big blunder by selecting a wrong beneficiary by mistake at the atm because of limited info available at fnb atm when making payment transactions. As soon as I got the sms indicating that the money went to the wrong institution, I made contact with fnb call centres after they opened. They failed to help me because my app wasn't working and when they tried to send me pop up msg on my phone to accept, it wasn't coming through because I was my phone to phone them. And this was after they transferred from pillar to post using my airtime to call them!!! What a frustrating experience!!! Eventually, they referred me to the nearest branch. 3) I waited for the branch to open and I was one of their first clients. I explained what happened and I was told I needed to complete a form and that it'll take 5-7 working days to do payment reversals. When I objected and told the bank official I can't wait that long and pleaded with them to act with urgency and I asked for to see the branch manager. Another colleague of hers came by and aske her to help me call the call centre because branch manager is NOT available, he's in a meeting. I told them I had already tried that option with NO success but they insisted. Call centre was called and the agent repeated the 5-7 days working days story needless to say by this time I became very angry and upset. I demanded to see the branch manager. I was taken to an interview room. He came out and asked to explain "quickly" because he had to come out of the meeting. I had to "quickly" explain my situation. He promised to prioritize my matter BUT said I should complete a payment reversals form firm. He then asked one of his sales consultants to help me complete the form as this was a online banking issue. He went to back to his important meeting. So important that he couldn't personally attend to me as the fnb client!!! Form was completed and emailed. Sales consultants repeated 5-7 working days nonsense to me. I told him that his bm said he's going to prioritize this matter. I asked for the bm's cell nr, he went to ask for his approval and I guess approval wasn't granted because he came back with direct line nr for his bm. BM had promised to prioritize this matter and update me. He didn't. I went to the branch after 3 days, I was informed he's out and he would be back after 2p.m. I waited until I couldn't wait anymore. The day after while I was in a meeting, I received multiple calls from 087 nr. When I called it back it was fnb. I decided to go in person to thid branch of fnb cross street in Kroonstad, free state province again. To my dismay, the bm- Gerrie, wasn't available again. This time he had left a message for me with one of his team members to inform that payment reversals won't be possible. I need to go ask for refund from the institution where I mistakenly transferred the money. I was livid!!! 3) On the 25/6/24 before I left the branch, I lodged a complaint. When I was busy typing my complaint, the branch staff were only concerned about against whom am I lodging the complaint. I told them I'm selecting their branch and they said I should be selecting online banking instead. BUT I refused and said they couldn't help me hence I'm complaining. No one ever called from fnb complaints dept. 4) Sadly, up to this point I'm still struggling to recover my R18800. This is leading to MORE problems in my world.
