***** cases rising against FNB?
I would urge that FNB clients look for another bank.
On the 31st of May I had a total of R8834.19 deducted from my account in three separate transactions that transpired in less than 5 minutes. Reporting the issue immediately it took 45 mins to get a consultant on the phone regarding the issue. The funds could not be reversed at the time, also they came from a overseas account from Turzakistan.
On the 18th July FNB mentioned that they were emails sent out to me regarding this matter. Of which I had to fight and tussle that this email I had not received at all. The email then goes back to state that. My incident reference number: *** has been declined as FNB sees no fault in their systems or processes or no employee involvement on behalf of this transaction taking place. The Bank " ***** department" has reviewed the case and considered all the facts leading to their decision based on the following:
On the 5th of May a ***** department consultant Keletso Ditsolobe, an FNB employee had linked me back to an sms from APPLE PAY to indicate that a link with my card had been created using a OTP. And since I acknowledge that this card link sms I had received, the bank cannot prove whether I had shared this OTP with someone else or had done something else.
The statement from the letter itself states that a card link was used behind a secure login for a digital wallet service (APPLE PAY), with a registered/linked device. Therefore FNB does not accept liability from the transactions which were completed from a linked/registered device behind a secure login( APPLE PAY)
it's important to note that:
Any digital wallets registered or linked device with your bank card with any bank. Through the T's and C's of these digital wallet companies they alert the bank itself on behalf of these transactions taking place. Letting the banking app or whatever form of communication from the bank to me, notify me on the activity right from the spot. This is clearly stated in the case of APPLE PAY digital wallet service terms and conditions.
When the card link was created, the FNB banking app did not alert me of this transaction place allowing me to accept or reject the action against me.
THE SMS they connected me back to was traced by the bank. But originally this SMS is not from the bank either. Because FNB does not communicate transactions via sms's. The SMS connects a business ( APPLE PAY) and an OTP number. Instructing that this OTP is expiring in 30minutes! And that's all the information that's there.
Any SMS that connects any business. Along with an OTP, they alert you that if you did not do this transaction, you can alert their relevant department. But in this sms as well, this is not the case. I just received a faulty sms referencing a business (APPLE PAY) and the bank redeeming itself from this transaction because it had happened right under their nose.
The bank defends its case based on the fact that they see no fault in their systems or processes. But they fail to acknowledge that the device registered with my FNB banking app is a SAMSUNG DEVICE. We all know that a ANDROID DEVICE cannot be compatible using APPLE PAY. So if the bank followed all the systems and processes how were they then, not able to pick this up from the get go on behalf of investigating the case? I don't have any Apple pay account nor Apple device registered with my card.
But any digital transaction taking place, the banking app without fail always takes notes of these transactions. Empowering you ( the client ) to either approve or reject any activity that you did on your account or either any other related activity that may have gone unnoticed. The fact that you can be active on behalf of accepting or rejecting these digital transactions, remains the most powerful component that enables us ( the clients) to prevent these ***** occurences from happening. By letting the bank empower you to take action immediately when a certain action has been taken against you, you can atleast protect yourself from *****. But this is not the case on behalf of FNB.
They have not presented a case to me with substantial proof that they clearly followed their systems processes, by empowering me to take action against my bank account and the three transactions that are concerned.
With the banks conclusion in mind. I cannot be forced accept this faulty sms. But I hope that my case empowers you to be aware of these actions taking place.
Digital wallet companies take ***** prevention crimes very seriously! As accepting any card links especially with any their members or users that are not registered or connected with that specific card, would not go unnoticed by the bank!
