Card *****? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ FNB will NOT try to help you.
On Feb 3 I went to the mall, got a new screen protector for my phone and paid for it via tapping my card. This was before 12:00.
That afternoon around 17:00 I get two back to back notifications of cash leaving my account. I immediately mark the two transactions as *****, cancel my card and call FNB.
I was promised a case number, never arrived. Was promised feedback. Never arrived. I had to keep chasing.
Then I get this today.
“We refer to the above-mentioned incident, which was recently reported to the Bank. Our understanding of your incident is that on the 3 February 2023 there were two transactions totaling R 7,133.41 processed from your account using your digital wallet. Investigation findings • FNB thoroughly investigated your claim and found no involvement of any bank employee or failure of the Bank’s systems or processes. • The Bank has reviewed the case and considered all the facts, regrettably we have declined your request for a refund based on the following: • In order for the FNB Contactless Card transaction/s to be processed, a registered/linked device was used behind a secure login. Please be advised that the FNB Digital Wallet is a smart device -based payment service that allows you to make purchases by utilizing the Contactless Card functionality through your registered/linked device.”
Please prove to me that I allowed these transactions or approved them on my device. That day I paid by card, not my phone.
The amounts are also in FOREIGN amounts on the transaction list, however the amounts leaving my account was obviously Rands.
These are simple things you’d think your ***** investigation would see, considering I can on my own online banking.
I’ve got my mortgage with FNB, been banking with you for 15+ years and you have the nerve to tell me that this was somehow my fault and your systems are squeaky clean?
