Can't find my account

Called the number in the email, got somebody on a very bad line, told I need to speak to legal, turns out he can't type in my account number or something, directed to legal, got another service consultant, he says either my account number is wrong or something else, All I want to do is close my account before you charge more fees. Is it that hard a thing to do. If you press 1 to return the call , it goes dead, must be all on long weekend. That's an hour of my life I will never get back.
