Cannot resolve things without using multiple Saturday mornings to sit in the branch

It is easy as pie to upgrade to a better (more expensive) account, to increase over draughts, and any other service that pulls you into debt, but as soon as you want to downgrade or spend less money you have to go into the branch. This a company policy for FNB, and it is a huge pain, especially when you get used to working online and dealing with (in my view) the most advanced bank available in South Africa.

It is what it is, so I go in on a Saturdy morning to sit and wait. Fourways branch is particularly useless and there is no one to help you, so you grab a ticket and spend three hours hoping you are in the right queue.

I finally get to the counter where a gentleman tells me it'll be a quick process and the account will be downgraded in three days.

I get a call five working days later to be told I cannot downgrade because I am in overdraught. My fault (I forgot to transfer my savings) but I tell him it'll be right by the 10th of May... He says he will call back...

The account has been fine, and not in over draught ever since... But no one has called me, and I am still being charged for the more expensive account. I've called in, got transferred all over the place and end up in countless call centers. I get told to call the branch and choose business account (although this is a personal account) and foreign currency (who knows why) as this is the only way I can get a hold of the branch... But there is no answer.

Every other set of options gets me nowhere...

I'm told that the query is at branch level and everyone's hands are tied until a person from the branch clicks a button... and I must sacrifice another Saturday morning to get this done... For now FNB is forced to keep taking my money until such a time.

Reviewer Update
I was contacted by FNB regarding this issue and the problem was resolved relatively quickly. FNB has done a good job to fix the issue and I didn't not have to go back into the branch for this issue
