CANNOT CLOSE AN FNB ACCOUNT

I have been trying to close a specific FNB Cheque account for 3 weeks now. I am not winning. I have to travel a distance to the branch in Hayfields, Pietermaritzburg, got no help as I had pending transactions. The initial bank agent did not advise as not to use that account!! Now I am stuck and paying frigging bank charges on an account I want to close! can I just close the account please?????????
