Can FNB be trusted?
Can FNB be trusted? I have banked with FNB for more than 30 years and in the past month I learnt how this large financial institution can be ************. On 17 August2023 I received a whatsapp message from a work colleague, at 16h41, requesting I send an ewallet for the amount of R3000 to phone number *** as she had reached her daily limit. At 17h05 I whatsapped her the screenshot of the ewallet payment. At 17h36, I received another message from the same colleagues requesting I send another ewallet payment of R 2000 to ***. I immediately became suspicious and called FNB***** Line at 17h38, the call cut after speaking to the first consultant. I immediately called again at 17h41 and spoke to another consultant who blocked the ewallet, preventing it from being paid, and provided a reference number. She requested a case be opened and that FNB investigators will contact me. I open the case on 19th August and when I went into my private email (expecting an email from a FNB investigator) I discovered that on 18 August 2023 FNB emailed me stating that the monies was withdrawn. I did not believe this because the consultant from the FNB ***** Line explicitly stated that the money was not withdrawn and how could she have stopped a payment that has been processed. I requested several times a copy of the recording of the conversation between myself and the FNB ***** Line consultant, but my request was If FNB has nothing to hide they would have made this recording available. On a separate matter, for the past several years I made regular monthly payments to my parent bank account. On 17 September 2023 I discovered payments made to my parents accounts for the months of June 2023 and July 2023 were not paid into the account. They did receive payments made in May 2023 and August 2023. These payments were not returned to my account - they seem to have mysteriously disappeared. Awaiting a response from FNB!!!!!
