Business Account Rejection Due to Refugee Identify

I am truly disappointed to see that the value of running a business is only given to their selected categories of ID holders, and that they reject users of the Refugee Maroon ID Cards.

My business account was closed and yet when I presented myself at the Clearwater mall I was advise I was not to be assisted because I am a holder of a refugee Maroon ID card. Yet these documents are received from the foreign refugee home affairs within South Africa and with these documents I am holding a personal account with the same FNB. When I logged a complaint with their client service, he told me he wasn’t going to look through it neither assist since he was to follow their set rules and regulations which are not to help or assist refugee’s within South Africa. I had to reopen the business account using the online services, and it was registered and they delivered the bank card and sim at my home. I decided to proceed with activation and even having to Register online I was treated like a piece of ****, and as if running my business won’t bring any benefits to the country or contribute to the economy.

The emails exchanged between the FNB and I became so tense that they truly made it clear of not willing to have my business account activated, but at first they closed the first one without having to advise me, not a call or email was received from the FNB till the attorney were to advise to make payments since the account was inactive. All was paid the attorney letter received to allow me reopen the business account but yet after reopening the one online I was treated like a piece of no good or am I just a nobody that has no right to use bank services.

Why allow your online services attract us who are in use of these refugee identities have to register online and being treated like ****. I am truly disappointed and see how FNB undermines the services of the Refugee Home Affairs.

It is insulting the South African refugee services, for they gave us these documents in help to provide us shelter and at the same time give us opportunities to grow and rebuild our dreams.
