BUSINESS ACCOUNT AND ONLINE BANKING- UNACCEPTABLE SERVICE FROM FNB
Last year(October), I started a company and of course needed a business banking account. As I bank with FNB in my personal capacity, I thought it would be a good idea to have my business bank account go through FNB. I run my business from abroad, so when I did the online application, I specifically asked that they contact me via email or phone my UK number. I submitted all the necessary documentation. I was then told that somebody couldn't contact me, as they couldn't dial out internationally, and I would need to be forwarded onto their international department. After about two weeks, somebody finally contacted me and the account was finally opened. The lady on the phone reassured me that everything was fine with my documentation and we could use the account. I then tried to register my online banking and it didn't activate successfully. I used the secure chat function to get assistance and was told to phone a number. I explained that I am abroad, and calling out internationally in not that easy, can someone not help me in other way. Nope, FNB can't help me. I then phone FNB, and this is a cost for me, dialling from abroad, and the calls then continuously get cut-off. I go back to secure chat, and they just tell me to phone the number, which doesn't help me if I am getting cut-off. I have a business that I need to run, and now because I cannot use online banking, all my business income has so far had to be paid into my personal bank account, which I do not like. I continuously get emails from FNB asking me to put deposits into the account, but why on earth would I do that if I CANNOT ACCESS the account. My fellow shareholder, and someone that is authorised to act on the account, is in South Africa and then went to the branch to sort this out. He got a form for them to passcodes, which we both signed and sent off to FNB. This then got rejected, as apparently the online banking is not active. Back to secure chat, no one can actually tell me why the online banking cannot be active (just told I cannot help you any further). More phone calls to FNB and they are ''escalating it''. Get a phone call today from someone at FNB telling me that we now need to have an appointment, and there is issues with the documentation when we opened up the account (which we were told there we no issues at the beginning).
Going to close my business account with FNB, as they cannot help and provide the slightest assistance when required. Can't help you, but too happy to take bank charges. It has been an administrative nightmare trying to run my business like this.
