Blocked Accounts - Additional Client Specific (Not Standard) FICA Documents Required
Blocked Accounts - New/Client Specific (Not Standard) FICA Requirements
Yesterday all our accounts has been blocked by FNB due to apparent FICA documents that outstanding. We've just financed a new vehicle with them and have submitted our FICA documents, which haven't changed in years, multiple times this year.
The apparent reason for blocking our accounts were due to a form that was sent via email 5 days ago, which we haven't completed and submitted yet. The reason for that is because we are currently on holiday in SA and expecting our third baby any day.
There was no courtesy calls to either of the shared account holders to give a final warning. If we had to go to the emergency room yesterday, we would not have been able to use our own money to pay for the baby's delivery, and probably would had to go a government facility.
We are Private Banking Clients for a years now, with both national and USD accounts with FNB, and this is how they treat us.
When I spoke to one of the consultants this morning to ask that they please send me the new policy or legislation that require the additional FICA documents, she clearly stated that it's a bank decision and depends on specific clients. So it's not standard procedures, as we clearly followed those.
The consultant kept on repeating that they value their customers, but that is limited to one email, no courtesy calls or clear explanations why your account is blocked...just "please fill the form and return" no legal reason why this is required.
What will FNB do now...???
Not true though, our accounts are still locked.
The consultant we spoke to this morning, who would've called us back in 5 minutes (8:30am), haven't yet called.
I only received an email stating that "they escalated our complaint to the relevant department for assistance who will contact us directly"...oh yes and it can take up to 48 hours.
Very disappointing, poor and unprofessional service!!!
