Blocked access to my own money

Recently received an SMS from FNB informing me that my account is blocked until I submit a proof of residence plus my ID. Bear in mind that this occurred with NO PRIOR WARNING. Following this I went into the bank to sort it out with an affidavit stating where I live and my passport. I was told that a passport cannot be used as proof of ID and that I need a municipal proof of res. I have researched this and found that ABSA and other banks accept a passport (it is only FNB who do not). After being told to \make a plan"by the teller I asked to see the manager who told me it is \""absolutely impossible\"" that they had not warned me before and that there is nothing they can do until I submitted those documents. It turns out FNB has no proof on their system of warning me beforehand and so they unblocked my account for 30 days (so both of those statements were untrue). I have received no apology of any kind from this bank and will be changing sooner rather than later to a bank who appreciates their customers. I'm halfway through medschool and therefore will be a valuable customer (btw so are all the people I'm associated with who I will waste no time in sharing my story with)."""
