Bad service will costs you business

On Tuesday 30 September my husband sent in a homeloan application to his private banker. He submitted all documents that were requested. On Monday 5 October the private banker sends another list of so-called "outstanding" documentation consisting of (1) documents that has already been sent and (2) new documents not previously requested.

By this time the other banks have already granted us homeloans, but some displaced loyalty to FNB made us continue with trying to get their approval also.

Another week and many emails later, there is still no feedback from FNB as to whether the bond has been approved. The private banker by this stage starts sending sarcastic emails, overly friendly saying how wonderul it is to hear from us again (while he is clearly extremely annoyed at us for being so rude as to expect him to actually do his job), and his feedback is merely: "the application is beyond our control and we humbly wait the response of our Credit department."

What a complete shirking of responsibility on behalf of the organisation....

I'd like to inform FNB that the private bankers at other banks actually take some responsibility. My private baner called me twice a day with updates around the rate concesion she was arranging for me, and was respectful of the deadline in our sale agreement for the approval of the bond, providing positive feedback within 3 business days.

FNB has been trying to approve the bond for 9 business days, and then the private banker says there is nothing he can do!!!!!!! How about doing your job and placing the client first!!!

In the end, we don't care actually, we got other approvals and very favourable interest rates, but let it be known that FNB is loosing business because of arrogant and lazy private bankers who don't know the requirements, communicate ineffectively and do not assist clients proactively.
