Bad Service Ruined me
Today became the worse day of my life because terrible customer service. Not paying attention on detail when serving a customer can lead to a ripple effect of messing up their entire life or day. I have/had an account with FNB and have not use the account in months. A cheque account to be more specific. I have not used the account in months and therefore the account was close. However I still received bank statements form FNB and I took it the bank is still active, only to find that the account has a servings portal and that the bank statement is from that and not the main account. I am not sure if this means that the main account is closed and not the savings one. Anyway, So I change my salary to be paid in my FNB account . I still had my card but forgot the pin, when I want in with the intention to get a new pin, I waited on the que and I was walked in and given a ticket (67). The lady at booth 6 call and I went to her. She advised that we will have to reactivate the card and told me to go get proof address and said I must come straight to her when I come back. I quickly ran out to get proof of address and found she was assisting someone. I waited and we were 2 clients waiting for her. I waited for an hour (I know this because when I got to the bank it was 14:25pm and I left at 15:42 pm). and she finally assisted me. Mind you, I took my launch break. When she finally got a chance to assist me, she told me that the proof of address is wrong. I asked her what did she not tell me that I must bring a bank statement instead. They guy that was printing next to her said, ask her to email it to you and I did. After that she told me oooh sorry I can not help you with this account because it is closed. I asked her again why did she not tell me before and make me wait for an hour for nothing and she said they should have told me at the door. Ok they did not tell me at the door, why did you not tell me and she said I only realized after I have sent you to get the proof of account. Now this is how my life is affected: The hour I wasted seating there, I could have called my HR manager to pay my salary into a different account because when I got to work, she told me that she had just transferred that salaries just now before I called her. Now FNB is telling me that the money is going to be kept into their OTP for 24 hours then send it back to the sender which might reflect in 4 working days as it is from a different bank. What even frustrate me more is that this lady tells me that I have to open another account. I asked her what I need, She tells me I need money to open the account, ID and proof of residence. To my frustration I do not have the money and when I said this she just starred at me. Only to find out later that I did not even need the money because FNB opens an account for you and you deposit any amount to activate the account. Imagine. Plus my "Savings' account had R46 which can be deposited into the new account to activate it. Now I may only get my Salary next week Wednesday, I have bills to pay, policies, transport to get to work, rent and I have 3 kids I have to eat. I have a 1 year 4 months son that has to get formula, nanny to pay and all other thing. What am I going to do. I had to return to the Branch because the lady at booth 6 really did not help but only make life difficult for me. A friendly lady by the name Mangadi assisted me and explained everything. She even managed to open a new account for me and a life cove, Which the first lady failed. She tried to assist and I think there is only so much she can do. I left the bank at 18:20pm and just when I though this day cant get any worse I was left stranded at the streets of Olieven because taxis were finished. Just failure to pay attention. For her to have told me the account is closed and can not be reactivated an hour ago would have saved me and my children a lot of trouble. I do not know what I am going to do from tomorrow until the day FNB pays the money back into the company account. My life turned upside down.
