Bad service outweighs good service

On Thursday the 10th I went to fnb Denlyn. I wanted to reactivate my bank account which had been deactivated. I got to get help and what I was told shocked me. I explained to the lady that I wanted to activate my account and her reply in a smug tone was this " we no longer open bank accounts for people unless you move you agree to move your salary to come to your fnb account". This was a big surprise, now I don't know how true this is buy it was news to me.

I proceeded to ask her what am I supposed to do now because i need the fnb account to b able to use it for PayPal services. I don't have a salary so does that mean I can't get my already existing bank account to be activated.

She told me she doesn't know but she will try and help. I sat there stressed that I might not get my account back while she was clicking away on her PC. Eventually she activated it then she tells me that the bank has ran out of bank cards so I should come back on the weekend I didn't like that but I did come back.

Monday and I explained to this guy giving out ticket numbers, he insists I had to bring my agreement document and that for me to get the card I also have to deposit money first into the account. I told him how can I deposit when I don't have my card, have me a disapproving look and gave me a ticket.

This time i was assisted by a friendly lady who was smiling when talking to me, even letting me know when the system was slow. She asked if I was receiving my salary at their bank and I said no and she didn't tell me about not getting the account or card if I don't move my salary. Later after getting it I went to work on my online banking . Was also assisted by a friendly lady there.

My review is to let you know that some of your staff made my day but others ruined it. I wanted to make this review on the 10th right after leaving the bank but decided to wait it out. Otherwise could have been a 1 star rating of me mentioning only the negative.

I have taken down the name of the first rude consultant and of the second one who was much friendlier. I don't want to post them on a public forum for the sake of their privacy but if fnb want their names, I will give.

It's not always that people share good services and that is because bad service affects customers negatively and we will tell anyone willing to listen about your bad services so maybe get your staff well trained on such. Some of us are friendly people who don't take offense easily bur the thing about salaries was overboard.
