ATM retained a deposit Bank refuses to credit the Amount

I run a little business in transportation i use to deposit what i made on the day at the end of business day every day. around march this year the driver went to make a deposit of R600 at FNB MUTSINDO ATM, the deposit was unsuccessful but the ATM retained all the money and issued a receipt. The following day the driver went to claim the money they requested a receipt assist him with filing a claim form he was told monies will deposited into the account filled on form till now we’re still waiting. A month a go we went to find out the progress of the claim we’re told the form is lost and that if we dont have the original receipt we won’t get the money back. Which means am supposed to fold my hands accept that a big Bank’s word is final after all who am I am just a deep rural small time entrepreneur who is just trying to make ends meet.
