ATM not dispensing cash after withdrawal. All you get is your card back, no slip and minus 2k off account

Yesterday I went to an FNB ATM located at a petrol station garage called TOTAL PIMVILLE where I tried to withdraw money in the sum of R2000.00. Upon arrival there was a few people waiting and I realized there was an FNB rep who had just serviced or restarted the ATM. After 5 minutes of waiting, the machine was up again and people started withdrawing.

When it was my turn, I tried to withdraw R2000 but after pressing proceed to confirm the withdrawal or transaction, the ATM just froze for a while. There after, the ATM spit my card back out then an orange screen that read "Out of Service" came up on the ATM screen. No money came out and no slip came out.

I had my phone at the time however I was on my way from work and my battery was depleted so I couldn't call or send text and I couldn't be called or receive any texts. However upon charging phone and regaining signal when I got home after this whole ordeal, the sms for the transaction came through and I checked my online banking and saw that the money was indeed debited.

I then asked one of the kiosk TOTAL PIMVILLE staff to assist but he just asked me if I got a slip to which I rep**** no because no slip came out. Luckily the FNB rep hadn't left, he came back into the garage to ask for the toilet so I approached him to ask if he could assist. He then asked if I was withdrawing a large amount of money and I told him I tried to withdraw R2000 but the ATM did not dispense or payout the money.

He then said I mustn't withdraw a lot of money. He said I should try withdraw about R1800 or R1500. Reason being, as he explained, that the money slot was thin and not thick enough to allow a lot of notes to go through hence why the ATM did not dispense the money. I told him that there was no slip and what I should do next. He told me to wait a bit and said he would restart the ATM.

While waiting, I asked if the money would be reversed or if I can try withdrawing a smaller amount from the previous transaction. When the ATM came back on (No longer showing the out of service sign) it then provided me with a slip which the Total staff member handed to me. But it just showed me numbers to dial for lost or ****** cards. I tried to withdraw again but now my balance was minus the R2000 I tried to withdraw with my previous transaction.

The FNB rep said I shouldn't panic. He asked if I have online banking to which I rep**** yes and he said they will see the transaction there. He then said the money can be reversed but after about 30 minutes or more. I then went back home and after an hour of no message alerting me of any reversal I call FNB and spoke to some guy who took my ID, where I did the transaction and how much I was trying to withdraw. He then advised me to go to any FNB branch and lodge a dispute.

The garage has a lot of cameras and cctv security so I know that is good evidence to show that indeed no money was dispensed during the transaction. Please assist as this has already been a big inconvenience and unpleasant experience. If people can't withdraw large amounts because your ATM can't dispense thick notes then put up a sign. We are the ones who get affected.
