Applying the law when it suits you, shame on you FNB
In June 2016 I entered into Debt Review, thereafter I was advised to close all bank accounts especially since I had two bank accounts that I was not using.
I attempted to close my FNB Premier Cheque in November 2016, there was an outstanding balance, however, I could not afford to pay this amount. The outstanding amount was related to service fees. I requested that they put a hold on the account so that the account does not incur any additional charges. Every month the account arrear amount has escalated by approximately R200. In the end, after almost 18 months the account is now R4,000. During this time I have not used my card, in fact, I do not have a card nor have used the other services.
I have attempted to speak to numerous FNB agents in the branch and telephonically with no success. I am now being handed over to the legal department and they have already issued the notice in terms of section 129 of the NCA.
