Appauling Service while trying to switch my account from STD Bank to FNB

I have been a loyal STD Bank customer for a few years. I have had an account with them for over 15 years, and they have not always been the best at providing service and the best interest rate, as a result I wanted to move my account from STD Bank to FNB.

I called the FNB call centre yesterday with the hope of trying to switch my account, but before doing that, I asked to be routed to the loans department because I wanted to apply for a debt consolidation loan, so I could settle whatever liabilities I have with STD Bank.

I called the loans department, which explicitly states that they start their day from 08:00, I got routed to a caller, I told her what the intent of the call was. I was trying to get a debt consolidation loan so I could settle my liabilities with STD Bank and move my account from STD Bank to FNB.

The reason why I chose to move to FNB was because my home loan is with them and from a service's perspective they are reputed to the better than STD Bank. I spoke to Mabongi Langa, who asked that I send her the necessary documents in order for her to assist with my application, I sent her the documents and towards the afternoon she gave me a call. I was unable to attend to her call and asked that she call me towards the afternoon, 16:00 in order for me to complete the application.

She did not call me, in the morning I called the loans department and I was routed to Mabongi again, she told me she only starts to work at 8:30 and not 8:00 and that she could not help me. It's bad enough that she never bothered to return my call yesterday when she said she would call at 16:00, but today she was telling me, that she cannot help me. I find it disappointing that from a marketing’s perspective FNB does what it can to try and attract new customers, yet when we pay attention and take the steps to try and switch our accounts we get treated like they are doing us a favour in terms of taking our account on. I’m appalled at the type of service I have received thus far, perhaps I will stick with STD Bank, better the devil I know.
