Appalling systems, service and ethics

I was a few days late paying my credit card (7 days). I had transferred sufficient funds from another account to my current account but had not actually made the payment. I was phoned this morning and told them that I would rectify today. I had hardly put the phone down when 3 debits went through on 3 different (linked) bank accounts. None of the debits was the amount owing, nethier was the total. I suspected that somehow someone had hacked my account. I phoned FNB immediately. Private Clients (yes, they pretend that they value me as a client and issued me trendy black cards)could only tell me that the payments had gone to my credit card, but not why. I was put onto 'Collections'. They said that it must be a system error and could not tell me why 3 different debits ohad been done on 3 accounts; or how they arrived at the nononsensical amounts (there was plenty in the main current account to cover the debit). The lady muttered something about 60% but wouldn't discuss it. I demamnded an explanation.
I was put onto a supervisor who lamely tried to explain but clearly had no grasp of the situation. AShe denied the system error and could not explain the 3 debits. She claimed niot to understand the 60% comment. I demended that the debits and any charges be reversed; she said this would take several days. I then demanded and explanation, in writing. She said she would put me onto her manager.

The manager was not available so I gave my phone number and was promised a call. That was 6 hours ago and I am still waiting.

How can a bank arbitrarily choose to debit three strangely calculated amounts from three different accounts, amounts that do not add up to the amount due, and then fail total;ly to explain why. And why did FNB tell me how much they value my business and then treat me so shabbily. And why does FNB advertise 24x7 private bankers and the, when you phone them, abdicate altogether?

I suspect that somewhere in the small print I have given FNB permission to debit my account if a credit card payment is overdue. But only 7 days later, after having phoned, and 3 amounts, and 3 accounts, and not even the amount due? It's almost as though they set out to p*** you off and then leave their client facing staff to face the music.
Come on FNB, less (false) advertising and more concentration on systems, services and transparency,

Do I expect satisfactory resolution. Well, no. So at least then FNB will have lived up to my expectations.
Watch this space.
