******* and Careless Freezing of Bakone Ba Phetla Business Account Without Proper Communication or Court Order
FNB account number : ***
We, the Bakone Ba Phetla Association, are lodging this formal complaint against FNB for the ******** and negligent freezing of our business account, which has caused us severe operational and financial distress. On 02 July 2025, Mr. Phillip Namudi Phetla, the Chairperson of Bakone Ba Phetla, received a telephone call from a person named Vuyisela Nonqana, who claimed to be our FNB Relationship Manager. Without any prior communication, written notice, or formal engagement, Mr. Phetla was verbally informed by Ms. vuyiseka Nonqana that our account had been frozen on instructions from FNB’s Legal Department. We find this conduct unacceptable for the following reasons: 1. Lack of Professional Relationship: In all the years our association has banked with FNB, Ms. Vuyisela Nonqana has never serviced our account, nor has she formally introduced herself as our Relationship Manager. 2. No Written Notice or Legal Documentation: There was no official written communication, nor was any court order provided to justify this drastic action. On what legal basis did FNB Legal freeze our account? Was there a court order? If so, we demand a copy. 3. Operational Damage: Due to this reckless action by FNB staff, we are unable to pay our employees, farm workers, or settle debts with our suppliers and contractors, causing huge financial losses and reputational damage to our association. 4. Negligence and Carelessness: This unprofessional conduct shows a complete disregard for the financial wellbeing and operations of our community-owned business. We therefore demand: • An immediate unfreezing of our account. • A written explanation from FNB Legal detailing the reasons and legal authority (including any court orders) behind this decision. • Immediate removal of Vuyisela Nonqana from managing our account. • Appointment of a new Relationship Manager who will act professionally and foster a positive, efficient relationship with our Association. FNB’s careless and damaging actions cannot go unchallenged. We reserve the right to pursue legal action and escalate this matter to the Banking Ombudsman and regulatory authorities if it is not resolved urgently. Regards,
Bakone Ba Phetla Association Chairperson: Mr. Phillip Namudi Phetla ***
